October 1st – Mayoral Proclamation
The mayoral proclamation for National Domestic Violence Awareness Month honors the commitment to supporting survivors and raising awareness about domestic violence, emphasizing the collective responsibility to create a safer community.
October 3rd – 19th Annual Fundraiser Luncheon “Beyond Today” | 12-1pm
Welcome to the Greysolon Ballroom for Safe Haven’s 19th annual luncheon in support of survivors! We will provide a warm lunch and present the 4th Annual Marilyn Bamford Service Award, watch an inspiring video of strength and determination, and discuss what “Beyond Today” looks like for survivors.
October 12th – Allisa Vollan Memorial Walk @ Gichi-ode’ Akiing at Lake Place Park | 10am
Join us as we honor the memory of Allisa Vollan, whose life was tragically cut short due to domestic violence. This memorial walk aims to raise awareness about domestic violence, support survivors, and remember those we’ve lost. Click here for more details.
October 16th -Tabling at Blue Waves Café @ Aspirus St. Luke’s | 11am -1pm
October 17th – Purple Thursday / Enger Tower Lighting / Qdoba Fundraiser | 4-8pm
The third Thursday of October is nationally recognized as Purple Thursday where people nationwide are encouraged to wear purple to increase awareness for domestic violence. The City of Duluth will recognize this day by lighting Enger Tower purple.
Qdoba will donate 25% of sales to Safe Haven for orders placed between 4-8pm. Queso and giving back – what could be better?! Make sure to mention Safe Haven when paying for your order!
October 21st -Tabling at Lakeview Room, KSC 268 @ UMD | 1pm
October 22nd – Happy Hour/Raffle @ Bent Paddle | 4:30-7:30pm
Grab your friends and coworkers and come support Safe Haven with a happy hour at one of Duluth’s best breweries! We’ll have a table with information, friendly staff to answer your questions and chat with, and a number of items up for raffle. Get a beverage, donate to earn raffle tickets, and support survivors all while unwinding after work!
October 23rd -Tabling at the Cafeteria @ Essentia | 11am – 1pm
October 1-31st – Shirt Design Contest Orders
